    Travels with Telemann

    6pm

    King's Lynn Festival

Annabel Knight – Recorders, Baroque Flute
    Robin Bigwood – Harpsichord

In Telemann’s 250th anniversary year, we celebrate this charismatic and well-travelled composer who made a life’s work from publishing and transmitting music for the ‘pleasure of the people’. Inspired by Telemann’s own entertaining autobiography, we re-create the vibrant musical scene of his day, exploring his lively friendships with both Handel and the Bach family and the rich cultural mix of music they shared. French suites, Italian sonatas, and a helping of music for the theatre.

Telemann: Partita in E minor from Die kleine Kammer Music; Recorder Sonata in C
JS Bach: French Suite in E major BWV 817
GF Handel: Excerpts from Xerses and Il Pastor Fido
CPE Bach: Flute Sonata in E minor Wq 124
