In this invigorating and colourful programme, leading baroque ensemble Passacaglia explores masterworks of the Baroque period music as you have never heard them before… Music by JS Bach, Vivaldi and Handel, including Passacaglia’s very own take on Vivaldi’s Spring from the Four Seasons, the famously ebullient variations on La Follia, JS Bach’s own keyboard re-workings of music by Vivaldi, plus an eighteenth century identity theft in the form of Nicolas Chédeville’s famous Sonatas from Il Pastor Fido.

La Royalle: Baroque Music for the French Taste
Beauty, opulence and character abound in this feast of baroque music, played on King Louis XIVs favourite ear-soothing instruments – recorders, flutes and harpsichord. Music by Francois Couperin in his 350th anniversary year, and by other virtuoso musicians of the day: Charles Dieupart, Louis de Caix d’Hervelois, and Michel Blavet.
NB This concert is part of a Double Bill and will be followed at 9.30, after an intermission, by Robin Bigwood’s solo recital, ‘Bach after Dark’.
