Three musicians playing in an old fashioned interior with candles

La Parisienne

La Parisienne is Passacaglia’s new album, due for release on the Barn Cottage Records label on 16th April 2026, and a live programme that explores the same brilliant repertoire.

For nearly 150 years, the Danican-Philidor family stood at the centre of French musical life. Through the closely connected yet distinctive voices of cousins Pierre and Anne
Danican-Philidor, La Parisienne captures a moment of transition in French music from the cultural hot-house of Versailles to the more cosmopolitan salons of Paris.

In this trailer video Passacaglia flautist Annabel Knight discusses the project in some more depth, and introduces some taster performances:

La Parisienne repertoire includes:

Pierre Danican-Philidor (1681-1731)
Quatriéme, Cinquiéme, Sixiéme & Douxiéme Suittes (from Premier, Deuxiéme & Troisiéme Ouevres, Paris 1717-18)

Anne Danican-Philidor ‘fils aîné’ (1681-1728)
Sonate pour la Flute à bec (Premier Livre de Pieces, Paris 1712)
Character pieces from Deuxieme Livre de Pieces, Paris 1714
